Nice Poor Credit photos

A few nice poor credit images I found:

Yesterday’s Flakes (10 Jan 2013) #1
poor credit

It looks like this flake "accreted" many frozen water droplets on its back as it fell…

It was about -6C, the snow was falling in big, wet clumps, and there was also some water on the metal stairs… Not the best weather, and messy flakes as a result, but such is life., and still some nice photos to be taken!

First shots "in the wild" with my Poor Man’s MP-E: a Pentax-M 135mm F/3.5 coupled with a reversed Tamron Adaptall 28-70mm F/3.5-4.5 (159A). Macro range is 1.9:1 to 4.8:1. In the future, I think I’ll need to shoot a little more closed to get more DoF. This is F/11 on the zoom and F/8 on the 135mm.

Flakes In Situ (March 22nd, 2014) #4
poor credit

Bubbly snowflake. (The upper right branch had partially broken, so it was not in the same plane as the rest of the flake, and is thus slightly out of focus.)

Another 15cm of snow on March 22nd, about -3C as the snow was falling. Mix of larger and smaller flakes. Shot handheld, with another version of my Poor Man’s MP-E: Pentax-M 150mm F/3.5 with stacked, reversed Sigma 24-70mm F/3.5-5.6.

Snow Crystal From the 17th of January

I love the gorgeous messiness of this snowflake, shot in-situ after it fell on the back stairs of my house.

This is a combination/stack of two handheld shots – I didn’t plan it that way, I just saw, when I came back inside, that I had a front-focused shot and a slightly less front-focused shot, and that the flake was too good to just let it go. A friend helped with the stacking, which, I’m sorry to say, wiped the EXIF.

Lens here was my Poor Man’s MP-E, a Pentax-M 135mm F/3.5 coupled with a reversed Tamron Adaptall 28-70mm F/3.5-4.5 (159A). This was also my first session trying off-camera wireless flash…
